The Vale of Glamorgan Council has a programme for those aged 16 to 24 years old interested in sports leadership or coaching.

'Coaches of the Future' is the Sports Development Team's Olympic legacy programme which aims to help 'inspire a generation' of sports participants and sports coaches.

The programme provides a range of free sports training and qualification opportunities to develop participants' leadership and coaching skills and is an ideal opportunity for those interested in a career within the sport/leisure industry or for those who would like to give back to their communities.

Prospective participants will need to undergo an application process to ensure that the programme is right for them.

They will need to commit to regularly assisting at community / school sports. The programme includes opportunities to gain a number of qualifications relevant to coaching:

• Level 2 Sports Leadership qualification

• National Governing Body qualification in the sport of your choice

• Safeguarding course

• First aid course

• Disability inclusion training.

• COTF 2018 - GDPR Compliant - 14 (002)

An information evening will take place at the Civic Offices, Barry on Tuesday, October 1.

Anyone interested is welcome to drop in anytime between 5.00pm and 7.00pm.

Applications to the programme close on Friday, October 11.
