Penarth RNLI Warn Residents of Exceptionally High Tides

By The Editor

24th Sep 2019 | Local News

Penarth RNLI are asking people to be extra careful over the next week as exceptionally large tides are forecast.

Peaking on the 30th Sept the tides reach an astounding 13m.

At this height there is a risk of local flooding, cut off on the beach and other associated hazards.

This period will be one of the biggest tides of the year, (even bigger than August's which is when this photo was taken) and we have the second largest tidal range in the world.

Poor weather forecasts could make this situation worse, with a risk of water topping over onto the esplanade.

Please keep and eye on local weather forecasts, heed any local warnings and #respectthewate
