The Vale of Glamorgan Council has responded to concerns raised by Plaid Cymru Community Councillor Chris Franks about defective streetlights in the area.

In a comment to Nub News, Cllr Franks said, "There are a significant number of defective street lights across Dinas Powys. It was possibly caused by flood water shorting the wiring.

"Affected areas include Mill Road, Elmgrove Road, Millbrook Road, Murch Road, Camms Corner and Cardiff Road/Station Road."

Fellow Plaid Community Councillor Richard Grigg said, "Please, if the Vale is ignoring your call, let Plaid know of other roads and we will pass on the Vale.

"This situation is yet another example of neglect by the Vale Council."

In response, a Vale of Glamorgan Council spokesperson told Nub News:

"Thanks for bringing this matter to our attention. The Council routinely repairs faulty streetlights, whether they have been damaged by flooding or any other cause.

"Repairs to lights on the roads referenced were made following inspection a few weeks ago prior to flooding.

"An assessment of damage caused by flooding has also now been carried out and further repairs will take place shortly.

"Residents are encouraged to report any faulty streetlights to the Council's contact centre so appropriate action can be taken."
