Vale Council competition urges 16 and 17-year-olds to register for upcoming Senedd election

The Vale of Glamorgan Council is holding a 'register to vote prize draw', offering five winners an Apple iPad.

Anyone aged 14-17 and living in the county is eligible to enter the draw, which closes 19 April – the same deadline as registering to vote.

On Monday #Vote16 week began because for the first time young people aged 16 and 17 will be able to vote in the May Senedd Elections.

Here are all the ways you can register to vote:

Register Online

Registering online is the quickest way to register and only takes five minutes.

You will need to know your National Insurance Number and Date of Birth before you start. (If you are 14 or 15, your National Insurance Number will not be required)

Register by Phone

When you call, you will be asked for the following details which will take a few minutes:

• Your full legal name

• National Insurance Number

• Date of Birth

• Current Address

• Contact details

• Previous address (if you have moved recently)

• Previous name (if you have changed your name recently)

• Which voting method you would like to use

• Previous name (if you have changed your name recently)

• Whether you would like to opt out of the Open Register

The paper form you will need is called an Invitation to Register (ITR) Form.
