Two Penarth based wedding venues have made it to the finals of the Welsh Wedding awards for 2020.

The Paget Rooms and Holm House have both been nominated for the South East Wales venues final.

Named after the Earl of Plymouth's wife, The Paget Rooms were built in 1894 as a dance hall and theater as part of the Plymouth estate.

A spectacular Art Nouveau venue which was subsequently transformed into 'The Regal' Cinema in the 1930's and then turned over to Town council ownership in 1949.

Over the past 60 years or so the premises have served as a multi purpose hall, being used for shows, dances, dinners, meetings, and coffee mornings.

Known for showcasing some of the best live music and performance; having hosted gigs by Tom Jones, Man and Led Zeppelin and many more the venue is deeply ingrained in the consciousness of Penarth.

More recently The Paget Rooms have become a much prized filming destination for independent cinema and major network shows including Doctor Who, Torchwood and Netflix's Sex Education which premiered on the steaming site earlier this year.

The venue's quirky history, architecture and vintage feel have made it a stand out destination for couples looking for something a bit out of the ordinary.

Holm House recently scooped Best Boutique Wedding Venue at The Welsh National Wedding Awards 2019.

They said in a statement on their Facebook page: ''We continuously strive to offer perfection in everything that we do. This year we invested in our facilities to offer the ultimate intimate wedding experience. Our exclusive wedding package allows 'Holm' to become 'your house'.''

The 3rd Welsh Wedding Awards 2020 promises to be an enjoyable night with numerous prestigious accolades to be awarded to the most deserving professionals and businesses, including Wedding Venue of the Year, Caterer of the Year, Photographer of the Year, Specialist Wedding Supplier of the Year and many more.

A Spokesperson for The Welsh Wedding Awards 2020 said:

"These awards seek to recognise everyone in this sector that have shown excellence, commitment and have the customer satisfaction as top priority in their business.

''Working in the wedding industry can be challenging at times and these finalists have managed to stand out amongst the rest, despite the difficulties.

''We would like to wish all the finalists the best of luck and we can't wait to welcome our guests at the ceremony and celebrate the winners with them."
