The Glendale Hotel in Penarth has been forced to temporarily shut their doors to dine-in customers for the first time in 33 years of business.

The popular local eatery, famous for its appearance in Gavin and Stacey episodes, had only recently undergone a series of renovations.

They said ''We will continue to offer a takeaway service from 5 pm until 8 pm. You can enjoy any of our pasta dishes and pizzas, just give us a call to place your order and we would get it all ready for you to pick up.

''Unfortunately, with great regret, we are informing you all that we won't be opening our bar or restaurant until further notice. The health and wellbeing of our customers and staff have always been our main focus, it was a very difficult decision to make, but we feel it's our duty of care to protect our community.

''Closing our doors is something that we have never done in 33 years, so we are truly sorry that it has come to this.

''We would like to thank all our customers and the Penarth community for your constant support and kind messages, we really appreciate your words in such a devastating time for small businesses.

''Please keep supporting local businesses! Because of all of you, we are still part of this great community, and we hope to be around for many more years.''

Call them on 029 2070 6701.
