Penarth Coastguard has detailed a Sully Island Rescue which took place over the weekend, where one of the individuals attempted to cross the flooding causeway in waist height water.

They said: ''We were tasked to a person cut off by the tide at Sully Island.

"One casualty had attempted to cross the flooding causeway and was up to his waist in water.

"He was advised to turn back by a local business owner.

"Penarth RNLI launched and the casualty was recovered. After they were met by our team on the mainland. Strong safety advice was given."

The tidal waters in this area are very strong and dangerous and wading across should not be attempted.
