Year 12 at Stanwell School have been told they are to return to their classes tomorrow after being sent home today when a pupil in the year group tested positive.

In an email to parents and carers, the school explained that the pupil did not attend school during their infectious period and that therefore self-isolation would not be necessary.

The email stated the following:

"Following further contact with TTP (Track, Trace, Protect) about the confirmed case, we have been informed that the Year 12 year group will not be required to self-isolate as the pupil concerned was not in school in their infectious period.

"This means that Year 12 students will be able to attend school again tomorrow and Friday prior to half term and the one week fire-break."

In a more extensive letter emailed to parents, Head Teacher Trevor Brown stated:

"I am very glad to be able to reassure you that no other pupils in Year 12, all other year groups or members of staff need to self-isolate and they do not require testing for COVID-19 as a result of this confirmed case as the pupil has not been in school at all during the period where there could have been transmission."

He then called for parents and carers to be on high alert for COVID-19 symptoms "as a precaution".
