Stanwell School has sent home Year 12 after a student in the year group tested positive for COVID-19 - the school's first confirmed case.

In a statement emailed to all parents, Head Teacher Trevor Brown said:

"The school has been informed of a confirmed positive case of Covid-19 of a year 12 student who attends the school.

"We are working closely with Public Health Wales , the local authority and NHS Wales TTP to ensure that all necessary action is taken.

"In the first instance we have made the decision to send year 12 students home today while we undertake track and tracing procedures.

"We will be in touch later today to inform you and students of next steps."
