Stanwell Students Soar

It has been another successful morning for Stanwell 6th form pupils as they received their A level and AS examination results.
Year 13 Tutor, Mr Owen Flatley commented, "we are delighted that so many of our students have excelled this year and wish them every happiness as they move on to the next stages of their lives.
"The students, sixth form team and subject teachers worked so diligently to prepare for these examinations and it is great to see that this hard work has been rewarded with another set of superb results."
At A level, there were a very impressive 85 A* grades (16% of entry, our best ever) 37 % of all grades were A* or A, with 82 % of the year group achieving A* to C overall.
Furthermore, 187 students (92%) achieved the Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate as part of the Welsh Baccalaureate.
Excellent A level results have once again put Stanwell students amongst the top performers in Wales, with many individuals securing truly exceptional grades.
45 of them (22%) achieved the equivalent of 3 A grades or better with 71% gaining 3 A* to C grades.

Two of the top performers, George Jones & Jack Ruelle, are off to Oxford University to study mathematics and engineering respectively, with Cybi Gautam & Andrew Te Water Naude securing places at Cambridge to study medicine and engineering respectively.
Tara Robinson from the 2018 cohort has also been accepted to read English at Oxford.
Headteacher, Mr Trevor Brown, commented, "sixth form students play such an important role in Stanwell school life, setting an excellent example for the younger pupils in terms of work ethic, conduct and manners.
"The students receiving their results today have been a credit to their families and the school community throughout their time here and we are very proud of all that they have achieved."
