At least one year group has been sent home following a positive COVID-19 case at Albert Primary School. Reports suggest that further year groups are also self-isolating.

In an email sent to parents of children identified by track and trace as having been in close contact with the infected person, Head Teacher Andrew Gilbert said:

"Your child has been identified as a contact of a confirmed case of COVID-19 and will now need to self-isolate for 14 days.

We would kindly request that you come to school to collect your child straight away. Please access the normal collection areas through the yards to collect them as soon as possible. If you are unable to attend the school now please contact us urgently.

By identifying contacts and asking them to self-isolate for 14 days, we will reduce the possible spread of COVID-19 from those contacts to their family, friends and the wider community.

Further communication and details will follow later today to those classes affected

We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

A Gilbert"

The school cannot provide any further information to members of the press.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council have been contacted for further details.
