A planning proposal to build up to 133 homes on land just off Penarth Road is soon to be submitted to the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

The site was allocated for development in 2017 as part of the the Vale of Glamorgan's Local Development Plan, which referred to the location as a "greenfield site".

The contractor Newbridge Construction LTD say they are "working to deliver the development and required housing which will include a mix of family house types and residential apartments, and enable the potential for key worker accommodation to be provided to meet the needs of NHS staff."

According to the plans, one, two, three, and four-bedroom houses and apartments will be provided. If successful, two five-storey blocks will appear on the roadside just beyond the Baron's Court junction.

Key worker accommodation will also be provided.

A traffic survey will be undertaken to ensure the often-congested Penarth Road can cope with the additional strain.

Addressing environmental concerns, Newbridge Construction say:

"Extensive new tree planting and retention of existing vegetation is proposed across the site, as well as, providing a Local Area of Play for existing and future residents.

"The proposed buildings and the retention and proposed vegetation will allow the site to sit comfortably within the wider context at Llandough Hill."

The contractors are appealing for public feedback, which is to be emailed to: [email protected]
