In the great heat of Sunday, July 10, some 40 local people sought out the cool interior of the little old former church of St Lawrence at Lavernock to celebrate Sea Sunday.

There was enthusiastic hymn singing accompanied magnificently by Anne Thomas on the French harmonium.

After appropriate Bible readings, Revd Margaret Stark spoke about the moods of the sea which are paralleled in our lives and Revd Jimmy Young led prayers for seafarers and their families.

The church was decorated with sea-themed artefacts and flowers. Much gratitude was expressed to the small group that had carried out a big clean-up so that the service could take place.

After the service, the congregation chatted over cold drinks. It was a memorable Sea Sunday.
