The Burnham Avenue junction that meets with Smithies Avenue in Sully has now been closed by the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

The Vale Council Enforcement unit announced this yesterday via social media.

They said: ''The temporary road closure has been put in place by officers in the interest of public safety, due to people gathering at the car park at the end of Burnham Avenue.''

Sully has had a number of problems with residents and visitors failing to stick to the rules of lockdown.

South Wales Police tweeted yesterday: ''PC 5959 and PCSO 55837 were patrolling Sully Beach earlier this afternoon, several couples suitably advised to follow the government guidelines due to them sitting on the rocks and soaking up the sun.

''Despite the lush weather please stay at home and save the NHS.''

A number of coastguard rescues have also taken place with people getting caught on Sully Island. Read more about that here.
