Penarth's clothing shop Queen B has committed to help reward the nurses working hard to turn the tide on the coronavirus by asking residents to donate vouchers to them.

The popular local shop made the decision to temporarily close its doors on the 23rd of March but has been keeping active on social media and hopes to spread positivity and hope during these darker times.

Jodie, the owner of the clothing boutique, said: ''The Queen B wanted to help all the nurses for the amazing, amazing work they are doing right now.

''The basis of this scheme is we will give you a telephone number where you can text us and we can be in touch for you to purchase a Queen B voucher for £20.

''For every customer purchase of a voucher to donate we will also gift a £20 voucher for an NHS nurse.

''It is our way of recognising all the hard work that they are doing and will hopefully give something back. It will be something for them to look forward to when Queen B reopens.

''You don't need to know a nurse personally but if you do and you want to gift it to someone specific then that's fine and if you don't know anybody then we will make sure it goes to someone who is worthy of a little treat at the end of this.

''Obviously, for us it is great for business but that is not the main reason that we are doing this. It is our way, if you give then we will give.''

You can buy as many vouchers as you like, and the shop will match them.

UPDATE: Queen B said: ''We had requests yesterday to open this up for other frontline workers. We are happy to gift to ANY who is worthy of some love and joy during these terrifying times.''

Text NHS to 07776526259 or call them to get started.
