Power On the Blink Throughout Penarth and Dinas Last Night

A number of small power cuts flitted around Penarth and Dinas Powys residencies yesterday evening.

Local residents noted that they weren't losing power completely but as one Penarthian put it: ''Just enough for lights to flicker.''

In Cogan, these bursts occurred three times throughout the evening.

Penarth Marina residents also cited problems saying they had experienced a number of power surges at their homes.

Western Power acknowledged the issue and said: ''Unfortunately, there is a power cut affecting the local area. Engineers are working to restore power and we aim to have all power supplies back to normal by 22:30 pm.''

Dinas Powys residents said they had experienced similar issues and that this problem had occurred last week as well.

During the short outages alarms across Penarth could be heard and residents pondered whether the two events might have coincided.
