Police renew appeal for information about serious accident

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward following a serious road traffic collision on Penarth Road in the direction of Cogan Spur, Penarth, which happened at 2.25am on Friday, August 5, 2022.

The collision involved a bicycle and what is believed to be a dark coloured Ford Fiesta.

It is believed the car involved was being driven by a female who then made off from the scene leaving the 60-year-old male cyclist at the roadside with serious injuries from which he is still receiving hospital treatment.

The vehicle involved in the incident is suspected of having passenger side damage along with damage to its passenger side wing mirror.

A police statement says: "We want to speak to the female driver of the dark coloured Fiesta.

"We are also appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has become aware of damage as described above on the above date to provide those details.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact South Wales Police quoting reference number *262136.
