Police appeal for driver that left injured cyclist on Penarth Road

South Wales Police is appealing for information after a driver left the scene of a traffic collision on Penarth Road and injured a cyclist. 

The incident happened near Cogan Spur on Friday, August 5 in the early hours of the morning and the cyclist is still receiving hospital treatment for a serious leg injury. 

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "At approximately 02:25 on Friday, August 5 officers attended a road traffic collision involving an unknown vehicle and a pedal cycle on Penarth Road in the direction of Cogan Spur, Penarth. 

"The vehicle involved made off from the scene leaving the cyclist at the roadside with a serious leg injury for which they are still receiving hospital treatment. 

"Parts of the vehicle involved were left at the scene which is being examined along with numerous lines of enquiries involving CCTV.  

"The vehicle involved in the incident is suspected of having nearside damage along with damage to its nearside wing mirror."
