Penarth Town Council has updated local residents on the steps that they are taking during the Coronavirus pandemic.

They said: ''Penarth Town Council is liaising with appropriate levels of government and partners in the public sector to ensure a coordinated response to the current situation.

''In particular, our colleagues in local government at Vale of Glamorgan Council provide a lead on ensuring the wellbeing of Penarth's communities.

''Penarth Town Council is taking all appropriate steps to ensure the wellbeing of the public.

''In light of this, and recent government guidance, Penarth Town Council's West House office is closed (The Paget Rooms and Turner House are also closed).

''However, office-based staff will continue to work from home to ensure that core operational services can continue. This means you can still get in touch via email at [email protected] or speak to someone over the phone via 02920 713 840.

''The ongoing situation and latest official guidance have resulted in inevitable changes to our operations. The Town Council is making best efforts to ensure public service and safety. Relevant partners and customers have been informed and we will be updating the community with changes when applicable.

''Please do note our FAQs below which address common issues over the coming weeks – in particular, changes to venue openings following official guidance – along with relevant contact info.''

How have Penarth Town Council's sites been affected?

Penarth Town Council is taking all appropriate steps to ensure the well-being of its staff, its service users and the general public. Whilst our West House Office and Community Hub are closed, office-based staff will continue to work from home to ensure that core operational services can continue. This means you can still get in touch via email at [email protected] or speak to someone over the phone via 02920 713 840. In Addition:

• Penarth Cemetery opening hours will not change.

• The Paget Rooms and Turner House are also closed.

I have made a booking with Penarth Town Council to hire one of your venues – how will I be affected?

We will be getting in touch with all bookings up until 6th April 2020 with a view to postponing or cancelling all activities at our sites. If you decide to postpone your event, your deposit and any monies paid will transfer to the new booking. If you decide to cancel your event, we will issue a full refund accordingly. We will continue our calendar of bookings on a two-weekly basis in this manner.
