Three teenagers, one of whom is from Penarth, are in custody after being arrested on suspicion of burgling a house occupied by NHS staff.
The boys – two aged 16 and one aged 17 – were arrested during the early hours of this morning in Splott.
They are suspected of travelling in a stolen Peugeot 108 which failed to stop for South Wales Police Roads Policing Officers on Railway Street.
The car had been stolen from King George V Drive East earlier in the evening while the occupants – four junior doctors - were asleep and unaware in bed.
It was abandoned in Gwendoline Place and the three suspects were found hiding nearby by Cathays response officers.
The car will be returned to the doctors as soon as possible, once it has been properly examined by crime scene investigators.
The teenagers who are from Penarth, Heath and Rhiwbina were arrested on suspicion of possession of weapons, drugs and burglary and remain in police custody.
South Wales Police said: ''Our officers are on the front line, responding to spontaneous incidents, detecting crime, serving communities and doing their very best to keep everyone safe.''
