Alexandra's Enchanted Garden's opened its doors to Penarth yesterday evening but unfortunately due to the menace of Storm Dennis, the fairies will have to remain in their homes tonight.

The event organisers announced on their Facebook today: ''Hi everyone. We are sorry to say that it does look like Storm Dennis is heading our way tonight, despite our best wishes that it was tailing off, so we have decided to cancel tonight's event due to the high winds expected on health and safety grounds.

''All of tonight's tickets can be exchanged for another available date and time slot.

''Please simply message us via the contact form link below with the date and time slot when you would like to rebook for.

''We have available sessions Sunday 16th, Wednesday 19th - Saturday 22nd February 5.20pm - 7.40 pm with admissions every 20 minutes.

''The team will work through exchange requests in the order they are received as quickly as possible. You will receive new e-tickets direct from TicketSource within 24 hours of your request.

''We are battening down the hatches and hiding the fairies away so that everything is protected from the storm, which will hopefully pass quickly. We can't wait to see you when you have rebooked.''
