Penarth Resident Allison Brïdson ran 100 km over the month of May to raise money in memory of her friend, Catherine Roberts, who died from a brain tumour, aged 27.

Allison and a group of friends have all been running, cycling or walking the length of a marathon - 26.2 miles, or more!

Ms Brïdson said: ''Two years ago, our friend passed away unexpectedly due to a brain tumour, she was only in her twenties.

''She was a ray of sunshine, fun-loving, fit, healthy and so active.

"Exercise and keeping active is something she would love doing, so during what is a difficult month for us Catherine's best friend Laila came up with this great idea and thought "what would Catherine do" and are doing exactly that.

"So, over the month of May, I ran 100km, along with a whole group of us cycling, walking and running to raise as much money as possible for the Brain Tumour Charity - a cure can't wait. The Catherine Roberts Fund.''

The Brain Tumour Charity is the world's leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. They said: "We are committed to saving and improving lives. We're moving further and faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour.

''We're set on finding new treatments, offering the highest level of support and driving urgent change. And we are doing it right now.

''Because we understand that when you, or someone you love, is diagnosed with a brain tumour a cure really can't wait."

So far, 27 other supporters of the fund are joining in, from all the four corners of the world - with many based in Wales, where Ms Roberts was from - and have already raised more than £12,000 for the Catherine Roberts Fund.

Allison explained: ''We are all based over Cardiff and outskirts, and even a few in Australia.''

The fund is a supporter group for The Brain Tumour Charity.
