A volunteer from Penarth's Repair Cafe will be hosting a virtual woodwork tutorial this Saturday to help residents fix up their broken items during the coronavirus lockdown.

Penarth's Repair Cafe was forced to shut its doors when the coronavirus lockdown was announced but the wider project has come up with an ingenious way to carry on with their wonderful services.

Repair Cafe Wales said: ''We've been terribly quiet over the last few weeks drumming up some ideas to keep the fixing going during these unusual times and the wait is now over.

''We will be sharing online tutorials made by our wonderfully talented volunteers and organising live virtual repair sessions for non-electrical items.''

The tutorial this Saturday is hosted by one of Penarth's very own repairers.

Andrew, will be guiding residents through a live online repair session to show them how to repair wooden furniture.

Andrew said: "I volunteer at the Penarth Cafe and design and make wooden furniture so can help with all woodworking queries.

''Whilst the following isn't essential to join this session, if you are fixing something wooden during the session, it will be helpful to have the following to hand; -

- Workbench / sturdy table

- Folded sheet to cushion workbench

- Mallet

- Scrapwood and tea towels to protect furniture during disassembly

- Large speed clamps with reversible heads

- Screwdriver (slotted and phillips)

- Glue (PVA or Araldite epoxy)

- Glue spreader

- A damp cloth for glue cleanup

- Sandpaper to remove old glue

- Masking tape

- Pencil to label parts
