The Penarth Neighbourhood Policing Team have issued a reminder to visitors of the town that they should respect the government guidelines and only travel when essential.

In a statement on social media, they said: ''The Penarth Neighbourhood Policing Team are noticing more and more people are out and about today travelling to the area to enjoy the nice weather, please follow the Government guidelines and help us to protect you and #SaveTheNHS.

''Officers have been on patrol this morning and have spoken to several people. Patrols will be continuing throughout the day and during the coming weeks.

''Travel should be essential only as per the above guidance.

''Travelling via vehicle for exercise will not be considered essential.''

They also shared the pictured poster reminding residents and visitors of the lockdown rules and what is deemed essential travel.

Current Government guidelines do indicate that members of the public should exercise locally.
