Penarth councillor is new mayor of the Vale

Councillor Elliot Penn was voted Mayor of the Vale of Glamorgan at the Council's Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, 8 May.
At the same meeting, the Vale also welcomed Cllr Naomi Marshalsea as Deputy Mayor.
During his year in office, the Mayor will preside over the principal meetings of the Council, and undertake various ceremonial roles on behalf of the County.
As Mayor and Deputy, Cllrs Penn and Marshalsea will also continue to raise funds for the Mayor's foundation.
The Foundation offers financial support to community groups, the voluntary sector, and not for profit organisations towards the cost of initiatives that help to support the Council's vision of 'Strong Communities with a Bright Future'.
Cllr Penn said: ''Having grown up and lived in Penarth all my life it's a privilege to continue to represent St Augustines ward and a great honour to be elected Mayor.
"I look forward to representing the Vale of Glamorgan at many varied event throughout the year.''
Cllr Marshalsea said: "I have lived in Barry for six years with my family, and I'm proud to call it home.
"It's been an honour to represent Illtyd ward over the last 2 years.
"As deputy mayor, I am committed to championing diversity, equality and social justice across the Vale of Glamorgan."
