The Vale of Glamorgan Council will begin issuing £150 Cost of Living Support payments to more than 35,000 residents this week.
Under the terms of the Welsh Government scheme, a single £150 payment is available to all households who live in properties in Council Tax bands A-D, and all those currently in receipt of support via the Council Tax Reduction Scheme.
Eligible households who pay their Council Tax by direct debit will receive the payment directly into their bank account.
These payments will start on Thursday, May 5. All eligible households who pay via direct debit should receive their Cost of Living Support payment by May 13, 2022.
Those eligible households who do not pay their Council Tax by direct debit will receive a letter in the coming weeks with details on how they can claim their Cost of Living Support payment.
There will be online, phone and in-person options to ensure all eligible residents can claim.
These arrangements have been made to enable payment of the Welsh Government funded scheme as quickly as possible.
All residents can check their Council Tax band and whether or not they are currently in receipt of support via the Council Tax Reduction Scheme by checking their most recent Council Tax statement, issued in March 2022.
