Venue St. Augustine's Hall, Albert Road
Doors open 18.30
The Tree Forum is holding its annual update to let everyone know about progress made over the last twelve months.
There will be two speakers..
Cem Papaker joined Penarth Tree Forum as a volunteer in the summer of 2025 having returned to Penarth after a number of years away. In his talk "Back to my roots; reconnecting with Nature" he will tell us about his journey so far - his inspirations and aspirations - interwoven with his recent experience as a Tree Forum volunteer. He will update us on the latest activities and successes of the Tree Forum and their collaboration with some of the other community groups across our town.
Russell's talk is titled "Trees and our changing climate; an eyewitness account"
Russell is a Chartered Arboriculturist who specialises in working with community groups, councils and cities on urban forestry management planning and public engagement. An internationally known speaker for his work in Local Government having presented to audiences around the UK, Canada, USA, New Zealand and Europe.
Russell is best known for his work at Bristol City Council where he successfully ran a high profile community lead planting program TreeBristol alongside improving the day to day management of the city's trees. This work was recognised by the sector in 2010 when Bristol was awarded the Barchams Award for "Outstanding Urban Forestry Management."
Russell and his team at woodlanddwelling now use this knowledge to work with communities across the UK planting trees with residents, business, schools and local groups to increase canopy cover with a focus on areas of low canopy as well as promoting better use of technology to improve engagement across the sector.
The Vale of Glamorgan will also have representatives available for a Questions and Answers session.
There is no charge for entry, but donations to support our work would be most welcome
