More than 1,200 people packed Penarth Lawn Tennis Club for its sell-out Music and Street Food Festival on Saturday, May 28.

The event, featuring five local bands as well as award-winning street food kitchens, sold out within minutes of gates opening.

Revellers danced on the grass in front of the clubhouse in glorious sunshine, while others picnicked on the lawn.

Nick Skinner, the Penarth Lawn Tennis Club's spokesperson, said: "It was a fantastic day. It seemed like the whole of Penarth was there – it was incredibly friendly and a great place to catch up with people.

"There were toddlers, teenagers, and grandparents all mixing in enjoying the music and the food. Dozens of volunteers did an amazing job on stalls and bars trying to keep the queues down as much as possible.

"But it was a fantastically busy day!"

The day started with jazz from The Elijah Quintet and continued with a great variety of music from The Little Giants, Jim Pirrie and T-One. The day ended with seventies dance classics from GrooveLine.

Kerala Caravan, The Bearded Taco, and The Welsh Italian Pizza Company provided the main course, with doughnuts from Cardiff Dough and Co to finish.

Some of the funds raised, including the profits from the busy Pimms Bar, will be donated to the club's charity, the Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff.
