Penarth Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to a person cut off on Sully Island today, the fifth rescue since lockdown began.

They said: ''We were tasked to a person cut off by the tide along with Barry Dock RNLI who transported the casualty to us on the shore.

''Please help us and the RNLI, this is the 5th call out to Sully Island since lockdown.

''Every 999 call made could put our frontline responders at risk of #COVID-19 and places avoidable pressure on our vital NHS services.

''Stretch your legs but not our resources by staying close to home for your exercise. Please follow the Government guidance.''

Barry RNLI said: ''Please don't put our crews in danger by ignoring warning signs.''

Penarth Coastguard has already had numerous incidents on Sully Island during lockdown including four boys from Bristol who had to be rescued.
