TODAY'S PENARTH AREA EVENTS:

Multimedia Visual Art Exhibition at Llandough Hospital:

7 am - 8 pm. So when our mental health fails us does the answer lie in the physical body, the disembodied mind or somewhere in-between? And to whom should we look to for explanation?

HOWL Comedy at Penarth Pier Pavilion:

Banish the January blues with a night of first-class stand up in the presence of comedy royalty - ANDY ASKINS! Plus incredible support from CAROLINE MABEY, CHARLIE WEBSTER and host LORNA PRICHARD! 8 pm - 10 pm.

- ANDY ASKINS

Andy has built a reputation as a distinctive and original talent and is a highly sought-after headliner at all the major UK comedy clubs. He has previously worked with Michael McIntyre, Lee Evans, Jason Manford, Alan Carr, Jimmy Carr, Micky Flanagan, Harry Hill, Rhod Gilbert, Bill Bailey and Jack Dee, to name a few stand-up luminaries.

On TV screens, Andy appeared on The John Bishop Show, alongside a stellar line-up from the worlds of comedy and music. The show transmitted in a primetime Saturday night slot on BBC One. Andy was then invited back to perform on the John Bishop Christmas Show at The Lyceum Theatre (the only Artiste to be invited back from the series). The festive edition of the show also aired on BBC One, and an appearance at the Royal Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer Trust in 2016 is another memorable moment. Andy has recorded two episodes of Comedy Central's The Comedy Store, and has performed on two series of The World Stands Up, also for Comedy Central.

- CAROLINE MABEY

"Hilarious… funny and touching and brilliant" - The Guardian

"A mischievous, kooky talent" - Time Out

Caroline has recently appeared on Comedy Central as part of their Performance Anxiety campaign, and in Before the Morning After on NBC's new Digital Comedy Channel, Seeso. She also features in Josh Howie's Losing It (Series 1 and 2) on BBC Radio 4 and has written for Radio 4's News Quiz.

- CHARLIE WEBSTER

A cult favourite. A comedian's comedian. An act impossible to describe. Here's one Chortle writer's attempt: "His brand of comedy is one of the most daring and inventive that I have ever had the pleasure to witness as he combines bizarre storytelling with a physical performance that really draws you in. A lot of people make me laugh but this guy made me ache with laughter."

- And MC LORNA PRICHARD

TV and radio presenter Lorna Prichard BBC Sesh star Lorna was a news reporter before turning to stand up. Since swapping headlines for punchlines, she has performed at Edinburgh and Leicester Comedy Festivals, won $200 in a comedy competition in San Francisco, and MC'd many events big and small - from comedy nights, festivals and car rallies to a cat carnival!

Railway Pub Opening Night - The Big Reveal:

Come join us for our opening night... and meet our new resident DJ. 8 pm.
