Penarth teenager Frankie Wood has released her debut single to help raise further awareness of mental health in young people.

The Stanwell School pupil is no stranger to the stage having performed at concert venues including the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and St David's Hall, Cardiff.

The 14-year-old musician, a family member of local Penarth band 'The Woods', is working her way through her grades in Guitar & Clarinet, and is also a member of the Mark Jermin Stage School. 

On the release of 'Thoughts Inside My Head', Frankie said: "There are a lot of young people experiencing mental health issues, and I just wanted to let them know they're not alone.

"I have heard lots of stories about people my age really struggling with their mental health. I hope this song will help spread awareness of mental health issues in young people."

About her musical upbringing, Frankie said: "I'm very lucky to come from a musical family with both my parents being musicians. There's not a room in our house that doesn't have an instrument of some kind. I love playing music and writing songs."

Frankie will be appearing on stage at the Penarth Lawn Tennis Club Music & Food festival alongside her father, uncles and grandfather in 'The Woods' on Saturday, 27 May.
