The standard of pavement maintenance across the Vale has come in for strong criticism.

Dinas Powys particularly suffers from broken flag stones, eroded tarmac and uneven surfaces. Local Plaid Community Councillors have reported defects to the Vale Council and are campaigning for improved repairs.

Plaid Community Council Chris Franks said that the situation was getting worse.

He said: "We all know that the Vale's roads are very poorly maintained. However the same is true of pavements.

"The council does not seem to worry about pedestrians very much. Yet at the same time wants people to get out of their cars and walk more. This doesn't make sense.

2Throughout Dinas Powys there are problems. A small selection includes Station Road, St Lythans Close, Cardiff Road and Millbrook Heights. The list goes on. We have reported these to the Vale. The Vale has the financial resources to maintain pavement to a better standard. We pay enough Council Tax."

Fellow Plaid Community Councillor Anne Asbrey said that the concrete blocks along Station Road were in a dreadful state.
