Over the bank holiday weekend, and the past few days, the closure of country parks was not adhered to by members of the public according to multiple reports.

Cllr Lis Burnett addressed the issues on her social media. She said: ''While most are observing the closure of our Country Parks for the greater good and safety of others, a minority think it's the perfect opportunity for a party leaving our rangers to clear up after them.''

Vale Council Enforcement responded and said: ''This is unacceptable. Cosmeston and Porthkerry Country Parks remain CLOSED.

''Littering is a criminal offence and officers regularly patrol both parks. If caught littering, offenders will be issued with an on-the-spot £100 Fixed Penalty Notice.''

A local resident also sighted issues over the weekend. They said: ''I feel extremely sorry for the Park Wardens and disgusted by the people that are ignoring the fact that park is closed.

''The wardens have been told not to approach the public anymore because of the abuse they've been given by some of the public. Cosmeston park is closed.

''They've just had to clear up around eight black bags full of cans and leftover rubbish also drug use from people that went in there last night to have a party.

''Anyone seen entering Cosmeston they have told us to phone 101 to report them.''
