The apartments that will replace the former Robert Smith Garage on Windsor Road, Penarth, are nearing completion and now Project Three Developments, the company behind the renovations, are holding an open day on the 25th of January from 10 am – 4 pm.

This exclusive, appointment-only event, will give potential buyers the first glimpse of a finished apartment.

The Moorwell, as it has been renamed, has just 12 one- and two-bedroom apartments available to purchase across four individual styles.

Each of the apartment styles are named after a person with historic connections to this familiar local landmark.

As the proprietors of Sadler Bros Ltd, Stanley worked with his brother, E. Aubrey Sadler, running a successful business from the premises throughout the 1930s. During the Second World War, the building was used as an auxiliary workshop. Initially, only a single level, the second storey and recognisable facade were added during this period before ownership changed hands and it became Moorwell Motors in the early 1950s.

Ben Wells, Director of Project Three Developments, explains their decision to call back to the legacy of the building: ''With nearly 100 years of history to consider and such a distinct architectural style that lends character, we have incorporated these integral figures into our vision for the new development, naming the homes after them. Our aim is to restore beauty to what has been left unloved in recent years, allowing residents and locals to enjoy it once more."
