An appeal for a stolen bike has taken off on social media after an NHS worker returned to his home in Penarth to find that it had been taken.

Andrew Saunders, who lives at Penarth Heights, had just finished a 12-hour shift when he returned to find his property gone.

Penarth Nub News contacted Mr Saunders to confirm the incident.

He said: ''This was my Giant Rapid 1 bike, that has been stolen from my apartment bike shed.

''I live at the Penarth Heights.

''It's a medium-large frame. Bike code 736394. Frame No. GD1863479 or its GD18G3479.

''Please share this, or, look out for it on selling sites. I'm an NHS worker, I find out it had been stolen after a 12-hour shift.''

The community have been quick to rally around Mr Saunders with the post being shared over 500 times and offers of bikes being lent to him until he can sort his situation out.

Anyone with information about the bike should contact him directly.
