Youths Chuck Next Bikes Into the River From Pont Y Werin Bridge

A Nub News reader got in touch with us after witnessing a group of youths chucking Next Bikes into the River Ely near Pont y Werin Bridge in Penarth.

They sent us pictures of the incident, which can be viewed in the gallery above, with the bikes settled on the river bed.

Nub News contacted South Wales Police to find out more.

A spokesperson said: ''South Wales Police is investigating a report concerning a group of youths seen throwing some Next Bikes into the River Ely near the Pont y Werin footbridge. The incident was reported shortly after 5.30 pm on Sunday (10th May).

Anyone with any information concerning this matter is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101 and quote occurrence 2000161363.

Next Bike has also addressed issues with the vandalism of their property in the area. They said: ''Dear nextbike Cardiff, Our next bikes are used by frontline NHS and essential workers and we have seen an large rise in vandalism towards our next bikes recently.

''Please report anything suspicious to 101 and let us know via email [email protected] or via DM.''
