Mystery Solved: A Penarth Parrot's Great Escape

Whilst most of Penarth spent their bank holiday weekend in the comfort of their own homes, a cheeky parrot made her great escape over the Easter break.

Angelina Hall, who runs Glass By Design on Station Approach, found Harper the parrot on her windowsill and put out a plea on Facebook to locate the owner.

She said: ''I am very pleased the parrot chose our windowsill to seek help.

''I put a picture of her sitting, wanting to be let in, on our window via the Penarth Events Group Facebook page.

''The group has almost 4000 members most of whom live in Penarth.

''I was hopeful that someone would know something.

''Within minutes, I had a message from someone and very soon had a telephone number to ring.

''The parrot's owner was overjoyed and came round to us straight away.

''We managed to reunite parrot and owner within half an hour.''

Sightings of the parrot had been mentioned on Facebook with one business owner saying they had seen her being chased by some seagulls before her rescue.

A dramatic day for Harper but with a happy ending.
