MHA care and nursing homes in Penarth have today announced that they will be reopening to visitors after a long period of lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
This will apply to Ty Gwyn and Morel Court which are located in the town who have not been able to accept visitors since March.
Residents have found many intuitive ways to keep in touch with friends and family during the lockdown and have learnt to use Ipads.
They said: ''Following the announcement regarding the lifting of some COVID-19 restrictions in some parts of the UK, we are constantly reviewing the guidance coming out from Government about what this means for our residents and their relatives, members and volunteers.
''From Thursday 4 June, we have coordinated a phased approach to re-introducing visitors to our care homes and retirement living in England and Wales.
"Initially this will be for garden visits only to our care homes in England and Wales without an active COVID-19 outbreak.
"Where a home or scheme has an active outbreak, it will remain closed to visitors.
"We will be allowing visitors to book a slot in advance to arrange a care home garden visit. Wherever possible (weather permitting), visits will be made outside in the grounds and gardens. Where the weather does not allow for this, these visits will, unfortunately, need to be rearranged."
