Local resident, Kim Rolfe, was out capturing images and footage of Penarth on the 23rd of March, which just happened to be the day that the lockdown was announced across the UK.

The video which can be viewed above has combined a mixture of video and images to mark the historical day.

Many of the areas that feature have since been closed down or have increased police monitoring to encourage residents to remain in their homes.

It includes images of both the Pier and Alexandria park, both of which are closed to the public.

The footage was taken on a glorious sunny day.

Kim Rolfe said: ''I was in the right place at the right time, or something like that anyway. The footage was taken 1 hour before the park closures.''

Many public spaces have been closed temporarily during the coronavirus outbreak to ensure the safety of members of the public.
