A MANAGER at Specsavers in Penarth is supporting a fundraising initiative for Ysgol y Deri, a special education needs school, by taking part in a 30-mile run challenge.

Kenny Hall, 34, will take part in a 30-mile run around the school's grounds on Friday, 26 April to raise funds for much-needed new school equipment, therapies, and activities.

At the heart of this initiative is a shared vision with Ysgol y Deri, which prides itself on being more than just an educational institution, playing a pivotal role in nurturing the unique talents of its students and striving to dismantle the stigmas associated with disability, ensuring that every pupil has a voice.

Store director, Andrew Moss, says: 'This will be a huge challenge but one that I know Kenny will take in his stride. We are passionate about raising funds for great causes in the community of Penarth and the Vale.

'Ysgol Y Deri provides such important care for some of our most vulnerable children in the community, and so we are proud to support in helping to enhance their facilities.

'We are encouraging the local community to lend their support by contributing to our JustGiving donation fund. A big thank you goes out to all those who have donated so far.'

Specsavers Penarth isn't the only branch making a difference for Ysgol y Deri; earlier this year, Specsavers Barry also contributed by holding fancy dress days, raffles, and placing a donation box in-store, raising £1,500 in the process.
