Dinas Powys Community Council is celebrating the huge number of volunteers who work so hard to help sustain our community. So a Local Hero Award has been created.

In addition to the Local Hero Shield this year's winner will also be asked to nominate a local organisation or charity to give a gift of £100.

The Award this year goes to Mike Grove who is a founding member of Dinas Powys Food Bank, an organisation run locally and supported from Bethesda Chapel.

Mike was nominated for his dedication and leadership of the food bank and its incredible work over the last 12 years.

Dinas Powys Food Bank has fed and cared for literally hundreds of vulnerable people, while individuals have quietly and diligently supported their neighbours throughout with volunteers and donations from the public and local shops.
