Visiting restrictions have been put in place at University Hospital Llandough, after an increase in COVID cases on three wards.

The cases have been identified through routine swabbing as part of the health board's infection prevention and control processes.

These measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of our staff and patients, a spokesperson for CAVUHB said.

"By restricting footfall at UHL we will be able to contain the outbreaks and limit the risk of it spreading further," they said.

"We appreciate that this may cause anxiety for families or carers that wish to visit their loved ones in hospital and our staff will do their best to facilitate virtual visiting where possible."

The health board says it will do "all it can" to accommodate visits for end of life care, for carers' responsibilities and for patients with a learning disability.

Patient Experience will reinstate the drop off and collection service for patients belongings from Friday 8 October.

"We hope the public understand our position and the need to restrict access early so we can contain any further spread. We are reviewing the situation regularly and will keep our website updated with further information," said the CAVUHB spokesperson.

"We thank everyone for their patience and continued cooperation at this time."
