Alana Spencer, winner of the Apprentice in 2016, has announced her intention to open a 'Ridiculously Rich by Alana' branch in Penarth.

The brand currently sells seven core ranges of tray bakes from conspicuous blue stores in Mermaid Quay (Cardiff), Llandudno and Alana's hometown Aberystwyth.

In a recent social media post, Alana expressed her desire to expand.

Excitingly for the town, she mentioned Penarth among the eight destinations she is most interested in.

"Never one to rest on my laurels, despite having just opened my second and third stores, I am on the hunt for more as I pursue my dream of having little blue huts dotted all the way around the Welsh coast (bear with me rest of the UK - your time will come I promise!)" she wrote.

"At the moment I'm focusing my attention on Mumbles, Tenby, Penarth, Porthcawl, Conwy, Aberaeron, Barmouth and Abersoch although if anyone has any alternative suggestions fire them at me!

"Ideally it would be great if you could send me pics of any potential sites plus contact details of the owners and if any of these leads pay off...you'll be my guest of honour at the grand opening."

It is currently unclear how far along the process of identifying a Penarth site Alana currently is. Nub News has enquired and is awaiting a response.

Besides her successful The Apprentice campaign, Alana is perhaps most famous for her sweet tooth.

Her product line ranges from the best-selling Belgian Chocolate Rocky Road to the moreish Sticky Toffee Flapjack and decadent Crème Brûlée Brownies.

Would you like to see a "little blue hut" on the Esplanade?
