Jon Cowpe was the successful candidate at last night's Community Council By-Election in the Twyn ward. [Basically the old village and St Andrews].

Some of Jon's details;

· He has been a member of Gwyl Gerdd Dinas Powys Music Festival (committee for 15 years

· He has been a volunteer at Dinas Powys Library and Activity Centre

· He is an active member of the church, where he plays the oboe and cor anglais.

· He has helped to raise funds over the years for the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT), specifically in support of the only TCT unit in Wales, based at UHW, the Heath.

· Jon is a retired professor and consultant oral surgeon. His research and publications were into the diagnosis of oral cancer.

· As a past Director of Postgraduate Dental Education in Wales, he managed postgraduate training for dental professionals across primary and secondary healthcare.
