James Sommerin Retains its Michelin Star in Updated Guide

The Michelin Guide for 2020 has been released and James Sommerin have retained their coveted Michelin star.

The fine dining restaurant, located on Penarth's esplanade, has maintained its Michelin star status since 2016.

The Michelin Guide states: ''A smart yet laid-back restaurant on the esplanade, which affords panoramic views over the Severn Estuary; five of the spacious bedrooms share the wonderful view.

''On Friday and Saturday the à la carte is supplemented by two surprise tasting menus.

''Skilfully-crafted modern dishes exhibit a well-judged blend of complementary textures and flavours; sauces are a highlight.''

They were also recently awarded 4 AA rosettes which means the restaurant is, ''among the top restaurants in the UK where the cooking demands national recognition.''

Restaurants who achieve the four rosettes exhibit:

• Intense ambition

• A passion for excellence

• Superb technical skills

• Remarkable consistency

• An appreciation of culinary traditions combined with a passionate desire for further exploration and improvement

Approximately 40 restaurants have four Rosettes in the UK.

Their B and B service has also been awarded five stars by AA.

James Sommerin have been going from strength to strength this year as they were also recently ranked 35 in the top 50 for the good food guide 2020.
