The highly anticipated replacement for the Blockbusters building is still confirmed as a Brewstone.

Planning permission for the old Blockbusters building was granted to Brewstone, a popular Restaurant/bar, back in 2016 for the conversion of the existing site.

After a couple of years of slow development residents had wondered whether the plans were still going ahead.

Recently, windows were installed into the building and works seemed to have resumed again.

Nub News contacted Brewstone to find out the latest information on the works and the progress of the project.

They stated: ''Creative Hospitality Group is a small Welsh independent operator who owns BrewStone, Swansea and the proposed BrewStone in Penarth.

''We have been busy enhancing our portfolio over the last few years.

''We have a number of on-going projects which are nearing completion and as a result some of our outstanding developments, such as improving the aesthetics of the Penarth shopfront, are now being prioritised.

''We fully appreciate that the site is in a prominent position in Penarth, unfortunately as yet, we do not have confirmed timelines but we are keen to put this in place as soon as possible.''

Brewstone originated in Swansea and after opening in 2014 they have been very successful in creating a space where students, business people and locals spend their time.

There website states: ''We aim to provide the perfect wood-fire cuisine with our traditional hand stretched pizzas, craft the cocktails worth chatting about, and create the ideal atmosphere for a get together.''
