In Pictures: VE Day From Homes in Penarth

Yesterday marked the 75th anniversary of VE day and despite the current lockdown restrictions, Penarth found a way to mark the occasion.
Around the town, neighbours came together to host socially distanced street parties and bask in the wonderful weather.
Scones, tea and other traditional delicacies were in abundance as the sun beat down.
Bunting was hung from houses, posters and decorations were strung up in windows and the community came out in force to join in with the celebrations.
The photos in the gallery above display snippets of the day from all over Penarth, Cogan and Dinas Powys.
Community quizzes, games and general merriment could be found in every corner of the town and the scenes really emanated moments of the war coming to an end.
MHA's Ty Gwyn and Morel Court held parties for their residents, many of whom have treasured memories from that time.
Charlotte Street in Cogan had dining tables pulled to the front doors and, with a socially distanced approach, neighbours enjoyed games and chatter throughout the day.
One Penarth neighbourhood had fashioned masks of historical British figures and royal family members to fully immerse in the VE day experience.
On the same road, a speakerphone projected the words of Winston Churchill to the streets as the nation remembered his VE day speech.
In some ways, his words resonated more now then they would have if everything had been as it normally was.
"We may allow ourselves a brief period of rejoicing, but let us not forget for a moment the toils and efforts that lie ahead.''
And, it was just like that.
The enemy may not be visible but we have passed one peak and mustn't underestimate the journey still left to travel.
For most of us, yesterday was one of celebration. But, in order to ensure key workers will also find the light at the end of the tunnel, we must persevere.
