Heavy rain warning issued for Penarth

The Met Office has issued a yellow rain warning covering much of South Wales including Penarth.

They say residents should expect persistent and occasionally heavy rain from 6am to well into the night.

The downpour may cause "difficult driving conditions and travel disruption".

The warning comes as bad news to the town's hospitality sector, who are until 17 May only allowed to open outdoors.

"With awful weather heading our way again, our bookings that we have had for Saturday and Sunday have either now cancelled or rebooked for tonight instead," Huw Pickford, owner of Pickford's Galley & Bar with Rooms, told Nub News.

"This is good for today but it just means we will be very quiet after tonight. Lucky enough we have a bit of undercover space for bad weather, so we can fit a few people under shelter.

"We are looking forward to 17 May when we can

reopen inside. This also means our hotel guests can have breakfast in the restaurant and not just in their rooms."
