A debut novelist's book which has already hit the The Sunday Times Bestseller List will be celebrated over cream tea and group discussion at All Saints Church on Wednesday.

The event, to be held by Griffin Books, will introduce Pandora, the debut novel by Susan Stokes-Chapman, published last month by Harvill Secker, which is a subsidiary of Penguin Books.

Pandora is based in 1799 London and focuses on Dora Blake, an aspiring jewellery artist who lives with her uncle in her parents' former antiquities shop. Dora becomes intrigued by her uncle's behaviour when a Greek vase is delivered and asks for help from Edward Lawrence, an antiquarian scholar.

Dora sees the vase as a chance to escape her uncle and restore the shop. But Edward discovers something about the vase that leaves Dora with questions about her life and everything around her.

Elin Davies, events and communications lead at Griffin Books, said: "We are delighted to be able to host Susan to celebrate her debut novel, which has recently become a Sunday Times bestseller.

"Hosting author events is one of our favourite things we do at Griffin Books, and it's so nice to be able to hold them in-person again. This event would be a great mid-week treat for anyone who likes historical fiction, and a cream tea!"

Susan grew up in Lichfield and spent four years at Aberystwyth University graduating with a BA in Education & English Literature and an MA in Creative Writing.

The event will start at 15:30 at All Saints Church in Victoria Square.
