Following two sell-out events in January, Penarth's independent bookshop Griffin Books has announced the stellar line-up for its forthcoming events.

On Friday 28 February, Griffin Books will play host to a collection of thirteen best-selling crime-fiction writers as The Orenda Roadshow rolls into town, bringing with it writers from Finland, Norway, Germany, France and the UK to discuss their novels, their writing heroes, inspiration, and the ever-increasing appeal of the crime-fiction genre. This year, the now well-established Orenda Roadshow will visit Glasgow, Stockton on Tees, Wirral and Nottingham, before finishing in Penarth – the first time in its history that the tour has visited Wales.

Literary heavyweight Joanna Trollope will return to Penarth on Wednesday 4 March, to talk about her hotly anticipated new novel Mum & Dad, in which she explores the issues at the heart of a modern family with her trademark wit and warmth. Unsurprisingly, Joanna's last event in Penarth was a sell-out, and this event is expected to be equally as popular.

Multi award-winning writer Jon Gower has over thirty books to his name, in Welsh and English, including Y Storïwr, which won the 2012 Wales Book of the Year Award. On Tuesday 17 March, Jon will be in Penarth to talk about his new short story collection The Murenger and Other Stories.

Over 20 years since her novel Chocolat was first published and subsequently made into an Oscar nominated film, Joanne Harris brings us The Strawberry Thief and transports us back into the world of Vianne Rocher and the French village of Lansquenet-sous-Tannes. Joanne will be talking about The Strawberry Thief - the fourth in the series of novels which began with Chocolat – in Penarth on Wednesday 15 April.

Join master storyteller Alexander McCall Smith for a very special Bank Holiday event on Monday 25 May. Listen as he recounts the latest goings on with Mma Ramostwe and her friends in Botswana as he brings you up to date with the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series, giggle at the exploits of Detective Ulf Varg in Sweden, and escape to Edinburgh with the long-awaited latest book in the Isabel Dalhousie series and the cast of 44 Scotland Street. Alexander will also be discussing his new book, Pianos and Flowers, a selection of short stories inspired by vintage photographs. An event not to be missed!

Details of more big-name events and the annual Penarth Literature Festival will be announced soon.
